So recently, I checked out both Tombstone (93) and Wyatt Earp (94). Both done beautifully complete with a stunning soundtrack. While Tombstone was a success, Wyatt Earp was... Not... Mostly, the acting was to blame and Kevin Costner himself, but I found him to do a damn fine job (though, his 'Stache looked kind of fake). But let's break it down into pieces:
Story: Tombstone is a fictional take on Wyatt Earp and his brothers in Tombstone starting a new life. Wyatt Earp on the other hand was about the life and tradgities that Earp went through his life time including what really happens at the OK corral and Tombstone. Tombstone was VERY different in almost every way from the original story of Earp and his brothers. The film Wyatt Earp was long (2 DVDs long to be exact), but the story was more accurate to real life events down to the last gun shot almost. However, Tombstone was more of an adventure film than a tradgity sacrificing real life events.
Actors: The most important character in film is Wyatt Earp himself. In Tombstone, it was Kurt Russel. He looks so believable with a mostashe, you'd swear he was the real thing. Kevin Costner played the lead role of Wyatt Earp as who else? Wyatt Earp! Costner, while good looking, can make a role dark while at the same time enjoyable. So, Earp bad ass and all round gun slinger (Russel) or tragic dark story (Costner)?
I could go on all day about each film and get to every detail, but what fun would that be? The only true way to describe both films are this: See both of them and decide which one was better. Me, I'm still deciding. But I want everyone's input on which was their favorite and maybe tell why.
