This is where you can discuss anything regarding Stardust Warriors. You can give out suggestions on how to improve the writing/fanfiction and discuss the events of the series in general.

Thanks, gladly appreciated you for doing that. That should be really helpful. Also, a few update.

1. First chapter coming later today (Technically, day started less then half a hour ago, so it's today, not tomorrow). I've already finished it, but won't post immediately since I have other things to do; that and I want to look over it for any potential grammatical/spelling errors and inconsistencies with the plot. The style I used for it is also much more efficient, which really did cut down the amount of words I used from like over 6,000 with the original version that I posted on fanfiction.net to under 3,000 without losing any important points and still being much more concise. Although to be fair, I cut out the entrance into the video game universe because I plan on moving it to the very next episode where it'll make more sense and people's interest is more likely to be kept in the next episode. Still kinda long, especially considering the length of other fanfictions chapters on this forum, but not something I consider too outrageously large.

2. The first chapter is probably going to be kind of boring to read, but it's necessary for the plot so people don't end up asking too many questions that should be answered in the first episode like "How did the main character enter the video game universe?" or "Why did the main character want to restore the universe?" That said, others will be much more action orientated and reflect more of what I'll be used to delivering.

3. I will be using author notes. Author notes basically explains why I did specific things with my story and why some things were included. Will add to them when necessary and by the episodes (Yes, I will also answer your questions if you ask any, but I'm also putting it on authors notes just to ensure that people don't end up asking the same question over and over again).

4. I will also be adding musics during an episode outside of intro and ending. If you find the music unsuitable or prefer to read without one, you don't have to, but this is just how I would imagine a scene occurring and what I think would fit for said scenes. Musics will come from solely Japanese TV shows/video games unless said otherwise.

A couple people use music with their fics. It makes it a lot better. Good choice.

I definitely enjoyed the concept and the read. Well done. My only complaint is that the actions and the dialogue are a bit clumped together. In most script style fanfictions, it's easier to read when the action and narration is spaced out from the dialogue. Although little things like *looks sternly* are definitely OK with the dialogue. Other than that, I like your style and hope to read more.

Thanks for the suggestions and compliment. I appreciate anything that improve the quality of the fanfic. Can you skim back to see if that what you meant by improving the structure? If not, clarify a little more.

Also, passed all my TAKS, including commending the Social Studies. To reward myself, I'll try to make the second episode this week, rather then make people wait until next Sunday.

For instance, the long monologues clumped with action makes it a bit clustered IMO. Most of the action I like to have double spaced from the dialogue like both my fics, Fighters Abroad and many more. That's just my preference. I think clusters turn people off from reading, especially when they have a poor attention span for reading like me.

Also, a nice thing we like to use when using thoughts is the italics. Obviously one is not required to do so, but it seems to be universally accepted and used. i.e

Goku: I'm going to take you down, Frieza! I wonder what's for dinner tonight?

The thoughts are clearly distinguished from the out loud dialogue. Makes it much easier on you than just going *thinks in his mind* which is what I used to do too before I found out the easier way.

PostSubject: Re: Stardust Warriors Discussion   Stardust Warriors Discussion EmptyMay 25th 2011, 1:53 am

Just finished up making the second episode and should have it cleaned up and ready to go by tomorrow. Some things to note.

1. This episode will be pretty long. As of the draft I have, it is nearly 6,000 words, including everything. There are some parts that I believe aren't as developed as others, and as such, will try to clean out any garbage in it and reduce the word count for better reading comprehension for everyone. That means my episodes will be of varying lengths, although none so short that it doesn't qualify as an "episode".

2. The second episode will be the first episode where Dragon Ball characters are involved. Obviously, they will play a major part in the story. That said, the role they play in the second episode is not very large, but it is still important.

Also, more of a personal thing, but I'm pretty happy with the ideas that's coming out of my head right now and I'm liking the direction I'm going in. So far, for the first saga, I pretty much know what I want to do and am beginning to form ideas for the second and third saga, not to mention some of the seventh (And final) saga as well. Using a modified Kingdom Hearts approach is actually giving me more ideas then what I originally had with my original plan.

Something minor to consider. By August, if you have 10+ chapters of this, you will be eligible to be voted for as the best Fanfiction between August 2010-August 2011.

Eh, not really concern about earning the title, just making this fanfic the best that I can make it, but nevertheless, I will try to improve it as best as I possibly can so if I end up winning, I won't mind having the title.

Also, in the first post of Stardust Warriors, I'll be adding some informations regarding the series path, like for example, sagas names. For example, the saga I'm working in right now is Kirby of the Stars.

There's really no reason for the update topic. Multi-posting is ok and besides, we know when there's an update.

Finished writing a rough draft of the third episode and will put it either today or tomorrow. It seems as my episodes are getting progressively longer as I continue it (Like for example, my next episode will have more then 9,000 words on it). Hopefully, I find a point where I can easily control how much words I put into an episode. However, the fanfiction is starting to get more fun to write as I progress with the Kirby of the Stars saga, so hopefully that translate to better quality.

Episode Three is up. Just a warning, it is about 10,000 words. Turns out I put more into an episode then I think (I just realize that when putting this into Open Office documents, it is like twenty-five pages, not that it's necessarily a great thing).

*Is crushed by length*

Seriously though, I think you should break these episodes up into multiple.

I won't break up these into different episodes, but I will break them up into different parts. Meaning that the first part will have the intro and the last part will have the ending and author notices. The rest of the story will contain contents. Something like this:

Episode XXX: [Insert Title]
Part 1: Blah, Blah, Blah *Intro + story*
Part 2: Blah, Blah, Blah *Only story*
Part 3: Blah, Blah, Blah *Story, ending, and author's notice*

Not that hard for me to do. Should take me about half a hour if not less to put them into multiple sections.

Edit: Done. Any better?

It doesn't make it any less overwhelming though. Breaking them up gives readers more time between each episode to renew their attention span.

I was trying to do that with separating the episode into three separate parts. Since that apparently doesn't work, I guess I have no choice but to put it into two separate episodes.

What I mean is like it might take you a couple days per episode to start. That refreshes attention span well. It's how most people are. I don't mean any offense to you by saying this. It's just how people are.
