Since 2012 has been off to such a great start with me getting a 360 and a PS3, I'm thinking of getting a 32" HDTV to go with all my new gear. I do plan to keep my current 20" SDTV mostly for purpose of my VHS movies (which I own quite a few) and the PS1, possibly the N64 if I hook it back up. I know first hand VHS look low quality over HDTV and since I only have a coaxial cable for it, it would only look worse. I'm guessing older consoles wouldn't look the best in HD either.

The way I see it, if I get a TV with 2 HDMI slots (for 360 and PS3), 2 Component slots (PS2 and DVD player) and a Composite slot (cable box) I should be well enough off. So far I'm looking at a Sony Briva, generally has connections I'm looking for, one a friend has doesn't seem to lag to much, which is great. Input lag is my top concern going from SD to HD, so the better the TV is at reducing that, I'm all for it.

Though I've just been wondering about other commonly talked about brands such as LG, Sharp, Samsung, or Panasonic. Since I don't have any first hand experience with these, I figure I may as well see if any of you guys do, and if you give a good or bad word towards it.

As far as TVs go, I've never had any issues with a certain brand. The LCD TVs are nice because they're >= in quality to plasmas but they last significantly longer. LED TVs have the best quality of the three but they're expensive as hell and I don't know how the durability is.

Personally, I'd go for LCD. They're angle friendly (Unlike Plasma) as well.

Well I had started saving up for a HDTV, but have recently decided to keep my 20" CRT SDTV for another year instead, maybe more. I don't need a TV anyway, money would be better spent in getting more games. I'm just gonna go to Wal-Mart next week and have a shopping spree out of it.
