Final Fantasy VII Remake is Real

It's not a remaster like FFX was, but a full-blown remake.

Hope enix dont eff this up. But real happy this is coming regardless. Not just for the story but for G-bike as well.

Is it weird that I'm highly curious as to how that basketball mini game is going to play?

I hope they ramp up the difficulty from the original Japanese version. After playing through the Japanese version last year... I felt like Squaresoft fucked over the westerners.

Oh, is that right? I didn't know the other versions were toned down in difficulty. I would also like that. I'm sure they'll do what they did with FFX HD and give a standardized release where anything that was missing from any version of FFVII will no longer be missing in the remake.

Oh, yes. The localization was NERFED. An example from Seraph Sephiroth: Super Nova doesn't have that overly long animation, but it will kill you in the Japanese version. In the western releases, it deals high GRAVITY damage, meaning it cannot kill at all.

Back in the day, I had to sit through 2 minutes of that shit to have Tifa survive, even though she only had 400 going into the attack. And she was only in that situation thanks to a controller flub on my part.

Ah, I see. I knew about the animation difference, but that's all.

Oh, trust me when I say that's one of the many changes. Fewer enemies, gimped puzzle difficulties, nerfed stats on foes... I could go on.

...I had no idea there were such changes...Thats actually quite interesting.

I'm not even going to bother thinking too much about that other game. It looked awful.

I'd be fine if the bike game looks like that. For some reason, that basketball shooting game was awfully addictive. I used that in order to get Omnislash.

In the original Japanese version, only the Ultimate Weapon was fought. Diamond was killed via cutscene, and Ruby and Emerald didn't exist. It always bothered me that Ultimate Weapon was not the strongest boss as its name would imply. Emerald was moderately tougher, and Ruby gave me no end of trouble.

Of course, I never knew that the bastard was susceptible to hold. Seriously, a superboss that you can hit with that status...

AZX and I are some of the few apparently who had far more trouble on Emerald Weapon than Ruby Weapon. I swear everyone else I talk to had more trouble with Ruby.

Emerald is a lot stronger, but it has a fixed AI pattern. Ruby is a lot more random. Also, having to go in with two characters down didn't help me at all.

Indeed a quick cash in by Enix lol. But i suppose this and Neir are the only good things they announced. All in all its gonna be a while before they're both out.
Cool, glad you agree. I wonder if enix can replicate the same sense if addiction...thats probably the worring part.

I think some folks went with the 7777damage trick you can do with barret i personally couldnt so i rolled with 2 characters on field and kicked his ass like that.

So, about a year ago, one of the YouTubers I watch posted a video as to why he thought an HD version of this game should not happen. He didn't actually bash the game, but he did admit his bias towards FF6. Instead, his main points were as follows:

1) Poor management at Square-Enix
2) Criticism of Cloud's development throughout the 7-verse
3) Fickle nature of remakes

Fast forward to the announcement of the HD remake and present time, and the comments are still getting littered with people telling him to suck a dick.

It's quite an accomplishment when your fanbase can completely suck the enjoyment out of your product.

Cloud's characterization is a legitimate concern. Even though it's unlikely that we'll see him as bad as the robotic numbnut of a pretty boy from Advent Turd (since he doesn't have Jenova AIDs and all that nonsense), it is possible that we'll see him portrayed a little bit closer to the down-trodden and not very enthused hero that Nomura usually thinks of him as. The execution of this character has been all out of whack over the years in various media, and I wouldn't blame people being a bit pessimistic about how he's going to act in this remake.
