| Who do you think is the unofficial vice-captain? Nobody has officially been given the title, so I would like to hear your thoughts. You should be able to back up your claim. | |

| Zoro is both the vice-captain and the first mate. Pretty much every time Luffy gets in a bind or is compromised, Zoro is the one who takes charge. | |

Zoro has taken charge a few times, but since the vice-captain position has never been officially given we don't know. I think that there is a reason for that. That is because all the strawhats seem to act and are treated equally. Other than the position of captain, there hasn't really been a hierarchy of leadership. I have heard many theories on other sites, and I wanted to hear from the mystic people. I have even heard people argue for Usopp, Nami, and Robin. Some people think that this issue might be addressed later on, but I have my own theory. I think that Luffy might end up being an Emperor before they get to raftel, and that he will have a similar system to whitebeard. The current strawhats would be the commanders, and also just like the other emperors, he will have other pirate groups that will align with him. Some of them might be crews that they have met in the past and had befriended.

| - Spoiler:
-Zoro was the one that took the hit from Kuma. -He was the one that was able to guide Luffy during Water 7 after Usopp's defeat. -He laid down the law when it came to Usopp's return. -Zoro usually makes it a point to take down the second in command and/or second most powerful (Mr. 1, Brahm, Ohm, Cabaji, arguably Hyouzu, arguably Hachi) -Zoro led the charge against Oars. -Zoro was recruited first. -He stepped up his game enough to say that if Luffy didn't have Conqueror's Haki, he should have stepped down as captain. -Luffy's most reliable person when it comes to fighting power and following orders. -Every time Luffy makes an order and the others say no, Zoro is the one that reminds them who the captain is.
There's no doubt in my mind.

| Yeah I'm with Zero, it's Zoro all the way. Mostly it's the Water 7 stuff that sells it for me. | |

| If Zoro is so obvious, then how come the position was never officially filled? I don't think the writer wants to make that decision, because he can't decide. That or he has bigger and better plans. | |

| Maybe Oda thought the heavy implication was enough. | |

Well it is still debated too much all over the place, so obviously people must not have gotten it. So he should have it officially said to end any debate.

| Generally speaking, mangaka don't answer those type of questions, because Shounen Jump is horrible at asking them. They always ask the same "What can we expect in the future?" question which always garners the same answer. "KEEP READING TO FIND OUT YA FUCKERS!"
That has been Kishimoto's thing for years and years. Oda is mostly no different, although he has revealed some stuff like that the final arc will make Marineford look like crap in terms of scale.

| yeah that is true, but it would be nice if he would reveal it. Also hell yeah it will be better, cause we all know that it will be at raftel. Also everyone's goals will be achieved at once during that arc. Oda probably wanted the two biggest arc to happen at important times, like the middle and the end. | |

| Blatently Zoro, there's literally no arguement you can make for the others that is anywhere near as strong. Hell Zoro has even commented he'd leave just like that or cut Luffy down if he messes up.
If you didn't think this before Thriller Bark which you should have, everything from that point onwards really confirms it.
