I was off the wall excited when I saw this the day it got announced. It's already up for pre-order on Amazon for only $40.

Does preordering on Amazon pay for it in full? I ask because I've never used that system. I've always used GameStop for preorders.

It's the same thing as Gamestop. But often times they'll do preorder deals where you can get release date delivery for a low shipping price.
