PS2 Slim. Empty
PostSubject: PS2 Slim.   PS2 Slim. EmptySeptember 21st 2010, 2:58 pm

So it looks like I might finally be getting into some extra cash, my first objective is a brand new PS2 Slim. I figure my current PS2 is old, a Slim is only $99, buy a brand new PS2 before production stops and all that's around are wore out second hand systems.

Anyone else after brought, or is getting you backup PS2?

What I'll probably do is rotate back and forth between the two, change them around every few months or so.

I was thinking the same thing. You could get a PS3 Slim for under 300.

Cause new PS3's don't play PS2 games, one of the reasons it's cheaper then it's launch model.

And frankly, in reliability, I trust PS2 WAY more then any newer generation games.

I play to soon go after a PS3, where I'm finally getting some cash to put aside. Then the 360. I'm not buying either however unless I'm allowed to purchase the 3 year warranty (I know you can get it for XBOX, I been told you can get it for PS3 to). I don't trust em for 1 year (regular warranty)

There are backwards compatible PS3's. Also, I've had the same PS2 since a month after launch and it still works fairly well.

The backwards compatible aren't exactly cheap.

$300 on Amazon. That's a standard PS3 cost except you're getting a PS3 + PS2 + PS1.

And it's backwards? I thought they were more expensive.

I don't shop online, and I'm buying new from Wal-Mart (which is probably the only store I got left for games since Movie Gallery closed out.) Easy Home sometimes has a PS3, but their overpriced. It's why I returned my Dell laptop and went to the Source.

Also, I'm using my original PS2 now, it sell works. It's just Sony won't keep production of PS2's going forever, and I know, it's just my luck, as soon as production stops... PS2 breaks. Then all that's left are second hand systems, and really... what's the chance of getting a good PS2 that way. 9 chances out of 10 chances your simply buying someone else problems. Besides, $100 for a new system... maybe 120 with taxes in, hell, you'd pay half of that to get a game on the PS3.

Besides, I don't multi task systems. Really, all I need is a PS2. Instead, I have a PS2 for games, DVD player for movies, and a radio for CD's. If I had a PS3, I'd still use PS2 for PS2 games. If I ever became interested in Bluray, I'd by a Bluray player. Razz

And I like having a half a dozen machines running all at the same time. I can't do everything on the 1 machine, it's to easy jk. Laughing

Shopping online blows in person out of the water price-wise.

Blu Ray players are like $150 and PS2 slim is $100 and PS1 is about $15.

That's $265, which means you only pay $35 for 80GB, internet access, computer option (If you install Linux) and the ability to play PS3 games (which includes the PSN download option which lets you download classic titles and whatnot).

From what is says on Wal-Mart.ca, the PS3 is 250GB, not 80. Unless they are mistaken, but that's what it says.

The slim models are the only ones still being made. That would be the 250gb. The 60gb, 40gb and 80gb were discontinued because they cost too much to manufacture.
