If you don't know the basics of Mafia, here's a synopsis.

In a particular setting chosen by the gamemaster (Which would be me in this instance), there are people with different roles.

There are three main classes. Townies, Mafia and other.

Townies usually have no special role except to vote. Some townies will get certain abilities like immune to night kills. There are also special townies like Vigilantes who can kill at night but don't have any connection to the mafia. Vengeful townies have the option of killing someone with them if they are being lynched. The Townies win if all the mafia have been eliminated.

Mafia are the ones who kill at night. There are generally 2 or 3 depending on the amount of people signed up. They must ALL agree on one target per night. Some Mafia have special abilities. The Mafia wins if they eliminate everyone else or outnumber everyone else. For instance if there are 3 mafia and 2 townies, there is no way for the townies to win.

Other all have special abilities. There are cops who have a choice to investigate one person each night. There are doctors who have the ability to save someone during the night. Be careful who you choose because if you choose someone that someone doesn't target, your power is for nothing. Serial killers have the same mafia ability except that they are against the mafia and the townies. There is usually 1 per game.

Now that you have the general classes down, let's go through the game a little. If you are registered on Raziel's Domain, you should read some of the mafia games to get a general feel for how the games go.

The game begins with an NPC death (A non-user). The town must then vote for who is going to be lynched. You post on the mafia topic who you pick to be lynched. Suspicion is a big part of lynching. After someone has been voted off, they get lynched and then the night phase begins. The night phase is for those who have special roles (Mafia, Cop, doctor, etc). After night choices are made, the scenarios play out and then the day phase begins again. The town must yet again vote for who is going to be lynched.

This process goes on until the mafia is dead or the townies/other are outnumbered/dead. Any questions, there are quite a few mafia players on RD that are here so feel free to ask on this topic.

I absolutely love the concept and the game in general. Having completed thirty games under my belt, I am am experienced player with a lot of knowledge regarding the game and I am currently modding a game over another site. I can act as an unofficial IC to help teach you how to play the game if you're confused about the game and want to get acquainted with it, although I will still be playing if you feel you don't really need one.
