Who was the smarter fighter

goku or vegeta

Throughout the series, Goku has shown to be the smarter fighter. The reason Goku was the smarter fighter was because Vegeta always had such a big ego. Almost every fight he was in, his ego got in the way. Now at the end of Z, when Vegeta's ego calmed down significantly, I think he's the smarter fighter. He's always been one of the smartest characters in the series when he wanted to be.

true that his ego did get in the way the clear sign of that was when he fought Frieza
but i always thought he was the smarter fighter because everytime he fought Goku he found a way to win
he went 2-0 against Goku and provided a way for them to beat kid buu
he usually knew his limits and found a way to beat Goku, Zarbon and others but IMO he was smarter through the whole series except like you said when he is blinded with power

Vegeta never beat Goku not counting Oozaru. His Oozaru state had nothing to do with him being smarter. He was just outright stronger. He beat Cui, Dodoria and Zarbon because he was stronger than them. Same thing with Jeice. He didn't even bother to read Frieza's power and failed miserably against him.

Same thing with Perfect Cell. Although he knew not to go USSJ2, so did Goku. Except Goku learned how to perfect his SSJ state.

Vegeta didn't beat Goku in the Buu saga. They tied and Vegeta knocked Goku out after the fight. Where Vegeta did have his epic brains were when they were needed most. Namely against Oozaru Gohan, SPC and Kid Buu. As a fighter though, Goku revolutionized fighting almost every time.

even though goku at ss3 would have easily beat him but idk if goku at ss2 would but he did win that fight it was a dirty move but then again it is a fight
cant argue about goku revoloutionizing fighting he was the 1st to do alot of things like go ss and ss3
