| So since i'm LITERALLY the only one who listens to music that doesn't make my ears bleed. Out of bored and lulz i've created this topic see below for more in depth details /b/ros. Alright i've been to the fav band topic no this is the list of music you generally listen to.....of course 99.9% of this forum doesn't actually listen to "music". So spare me the Crush 40 , linkin Park , Lady Gaga , Beatles , Metallica , Dragon Force , Video Game "music" , Rap or other such fail things. I've seen listed on this forum. Below is a list of actual decent musical artists enjoy and maybe pick up on some good tastes.
10 Years 12 Stones 3 Doors Down 30 Seconds to Mars 40 Below Summer A Perfect Circle A Thorn For Every Heart AC/DC Acid Bath Alice in Chains All That Remains Alter Bridge Apocalyptica Atreyu Audioslave August Burns Red Bad Religion Black Sabbath Black Stone Cherry Blink 182 Blue October Bowling For Soup Brand New Breaking Benjamin Breaking Point Buckcherry Bullet For My Valentine Bush Candlebox Chevelle Coldplay Crossfade Death Cab For Cutie Deep Purple Deftones Dope Dusturbed Dry Kill Logic Eighteen Visions Evans Blue Finger Eleven Flogging Molly Foo Fighters Fuel Green Day Guns N' Roses Hawthorne Heights Hinder Hoobastank Ignite Infectious Grooves Iron Maiden Jimmy Eat World Judas Priest Killing Joke King Crimson Kings of Leon Less Than Jake Lynyrd Skynyrd Matchbox Twenty Mercury Rev Mika Evans Project Mudvayne My Chemical Romance Neon Trees Neutral Milk Hotel Nine Inch Nails Nirvana Panic! | I'm usually objective song to song, not band to band. So I have quite a few bands, like Perfect Circle for example, that I only got or two songs from. But in terms of artists that I have any build up of songs from, they would be;
3 Doors Down - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acMm00dTK94 Nickleback - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4po24DZ4K0A Disturbed - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vLXeU-u8SI Linkin Park - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxgEl-LXdcQ Thousand Foot Krutch - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPCsC3h76xc AC/DC - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBQ0_9IFzU0 Dio - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZnfbd_BGw8 Within Temptation - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBzSdGM1H1I Bon Jovi - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkb6Xmhp_XE Shinedown - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Saltrw8V3UI Skillet - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuyupBmHfVQ
Well actually I don't have a lot of songs from Skillet, 4 or 5, same with Within Temptation. Just like the songs I do got.
The rest of these bands I have a fair collection. The rest of my music is the occasional random song.
Edit: Don't compare LP and Metallica to Lady Gashit and similar crap.

| That's incredibly ignorant, MulderYuffie. I won't say your taste in music is bad, because I like a lot of those that you listed. You're one of those typical people, though, that pass over video game music just because no one else listens to it in school or work or anything else. Music is music, bro.
By the way, Crush 40 puts everything you listed to shame.

By the way, Crush 40 puts everything you listed to shame. I love some video game tunes but lyrics is really where it's at you got to have the best of all worlds and lyrics can really spring something to life and no Crush 40 does not put the likes of Blue October to shame especially the first 3 albums. All of Justin's lyrics come from the heart and it shows. Crush 40 is......is I just don't know how to explain it.....you just can't expect something to be good when they generate all of their popularity off a blue hedgehog and sing about him.....it just......really? Btw you didn't list anything....?

| Johnny Gioeli started at Hardline and he sings in Axel Rudi Pell as well. Jun started with Nascar stuff with the Sons of Angels. They matched up their voice and music and made Crush 40. They just happened to be employed by Sega to do Sonic work. Not all their songs are based off him either. Many of them don't even have anything to do with him. The lyrics are the least important part about listening to a song anyway. What really counts is the beat, the vocals, etc.
Here's a bit of my list.
Crush 40 The Offspring SR-71 Sum 41 Disturbed
Those are my favorites. Like I said, a lot of what you mentioned I'd put in my list as well. So no, we don't all listen to music that would make your ears bleed. I do happen to like Metallica and a very small portion of Dragonforce and a bit of Linkin Park. There are far worse bands out there.

I'd rather have good lyrics than someone screaming their head off or a rapper just talkin bout pimpin his hoes. Lyrics are the most important part of a song it's the meat of it and without meaningful lyrics you are not left with much. You got to wonder why there exist sheet music and why songs are most identified by what is being said as it has an impact on a person. Most of us here would remember a very wonderful voice with meaningful lyrics ahead of some guitar solo. This is why artist put most effort into lyrics to make an impact on people's lives and it works......depending on who you are listening to of course!

So then you'd rather have good lyrics that aren't made into any music than music you don't like with bad lyrics? Anyone can agree with that. I'm talking about decent lyrics and kickass guitar work and amazing vocals compared to better lyrics with not as good instrument work and not as good vocals. I'd much rather have the music part of it. Although honestly, it just comes down to opinion.

| I'm going out there and saying that your elitist comments are out of line. We had an issue with this a few months ago, so please don't push it.
I'm also going to say that music doesn't always have lyrics. There's a lot of instrumental music that I listen to that is really good, and a lot of it isn't based off of any lyrics. Being a professional trombone player and having played with several different groups, I've heard a lot of music that just as memorable as any song with lyrics.
That said, most of my music comes from scattered compilations that I get, or I find music my friends listen to. If I really like a song, I check out the artist. I've only stuck with a few artists, though. They are as follows:
30 Seconds to Mars Amy Grant (Pre-secular and post-secular) Avalon Blood, Sweat & Tears Breaking Benjamin Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir Chicago Chuck Mangione Daughtry Disturbed Earth, Wind & Fire Evans Blue Extreme Linkin Park Queen Reel Big Fish SR-71 Streetlight Manifesto Weather Report Within Temptation
Not immensely long. I focus on songs, not artists. That's probably a part of the professional musician in me.

| Just a fyi those songs I listened are good songs with good lyrics to them, but not all the music I listen to is like that. For example, I love that song "Porn Star Dancing - My Darkest Day", that's, not exactly a song with meaningful lyrics. I love guitar solo's and bass in a lot of music to. Hell I have a few songs with no lyrics at all. | |

Eh....I just have alot of time on my hands but yeah i am an elitist you could say.....I take my music very seriously (actually not joking here) and yeah i do like me some of that instrumental X Japan's got alot of that......but I prefer a beautiful voice and strong meaningful lyrics and when it comes to that the stuff i've seen on this forum isn't up to par (mainly the things i listed and what have you) imo

| I take my music very seriously, too. I was born to a music teacher for a father and a professional singer for a mother. But if you want your comments to carry any weight, you'd better have the experience and/or education to back it up.
As a professional trombone player, I have my own opinions about music. But I also can tell if something is good or bad in quality. Even when I hear something I don't think sounds all that great, unless there are clear issues with intonation, tempo, etc., I try to stay humble and keep my mouth shut. I suggest you develop the same respect for everyone.

I respect your opinion but if you actually count them, you dislike about 1/3 of the bands/artists I listed and not 1/2. I won't take offense, not a lot of Americans would like AAA and Yousei Teikokou anyway. Beastie Boys and Felonious get put down by other rappers (but Felonious is more hip-hop) IMO.

I was never a fan of Paramore or Evanescence either. Linkin Park is overrated IMO, but not terrible. Most of the rest I haven't heard or heard enough of.
