| (Feel free to move this to Pot Luck if it doesn't belong here) As Christmas is coming soon, many people start their Christmas decorating in mid-November. But it isn't Christmas without a Christmas tree, am I right? However, people debate which is better: A real tree... or an artificial tree. Here are my arguments for both sides:
My family and I have always had a fake tree in the house. We call it a tradition, so to speak. While others who have real trees call it tradition. Here's the way I see it:
Fake trees
Pros: -Reusable for the next year -No need to water it -Not prone to fires -Perfect for apartments -Makes putting decorations on it easier
Cons: -Opening it up and putting it back in the box you had it in
Real trees
Pros: -The fresh smell -The tradition of it all
Cons: -Makes a fucking mess from the needles to the water -Fire hazard -Putting lights on it and not trying to get electrocuted (good luck) -Always having to either cut one down (Christmas Vacation anyone?) or buy one every year -Need the right size stand to put it in which is mind numbing -Praying it will fit in your house (Christmas Vacation once again) -Hoping your tree won't turn into a "Charlie Brown tree"
Of course, the real tree arguments is from what I have witnessed from friends' houses during the holidays. Never actually had a real tree. Always a fake one. But please, present your cases, everyone. If you're with me on fake trees, or against me and claim that I don't give real trees a chance. | |

| -Fire hazard -Putting lights on it and not trying to get electrocuted (good luck)Funny, we've always used real trees and it never came anywhere close to catching on fire, and I never got electrocuted (which, that would be your lights fault, not the tree's. If you know someone getting shocked from lighting a tree, tell them to get new lights.). If you know how to take care of your tree, it likely won't catch on fire either. Keep it well watered, and never go away and leave you lights on when no one is home. (I don't care if you have a real or fake tree, your an idiot if you does this. And I see people around here that does it.) The only real downfall is the mess, but what the hell. We burn wood here (no oil (we do have oil heat, just don't use it) and no electric heat.) So after Christmas, our tree go's downstairs. Upside of real tree's is for sure the fresh smell, and hey, it's tradition. There was no such thing as fake tree's in my grandparents age. No such thing as fake tree's in my parents age. So we stick to real tree's. | |

| I'm more of an artificial tree guy, but that's because I've always had them. | |

| I have had both and I prefer fake trees, less of a mess and easier to keep together. Plus you don't need to find the perfect tree. | |
