| Just like the 3DS info/discussion thread, here you can share any info you know about the Wii 2 or just discuss it. What do you want to see added in the Wii 2? Anything you want improved? Share it here. I have a couple of links which talk about the controller and if it will be announced this year at E3. A site called GameRant goes more into detail. Plus the same site also talks about "project cafe", the codename for the Wii 2 controller. I hope the system has better online functionality, graphics that can compete with at least this generation of systems, has a hard drive built in, and 1080p full HD and for god sakes please improve the home menu. The PS3 and Xbox 360 lets you have backgrounds and doesn't have some annoying theme song playing. Achievements would also be nice but not a must. - Spoiler:

| Fucking Nintendo. They're making the same mistake that Microsoft made with 360. | |

| Who knows? Maybe it won't be another Wii. You know, motion sensor bullshit? Maybe it's just a code name for a new console by Nintendo. It's still too early to tell, of course. | |

| I would like to see an actual HD console like PS3 with Nintendo, but I'm still quite content with Wii. | |

| Honestly I like the setup the older gen consoles had with memory cards instead of HDD. I'll still buy a PS3 or 360 if I wanted one, it's not THAT big a deal lol, just saying.
Anyway a new console would be best. Nintendo was actually smart with Wii, keeping it SD instead of rushing into HD. Though I have a feeling their next console will be HD.

| So the theory that the Wii was more of an experiment becomes more and more valid. Ever since last year, I had a feeling that Nintendo was holding back on the Wii to prepare something really special for the fans next generations, knowing that the Gamecube was not a huge success among the gaming community.
If Nintendo has a console that is considerably stronger then the PS3, great online set-up, and fantastic first-party and third-party support, I have a hard imagining Sony or Microsoft stealing the crown from Nintendo.

| Nintendo already has the crown. They've sold so much more with Wii than PS3 and 360 has. | |

| I'm honestly not seeing why Nintendo has decided to make this move. Seeing as the Wii is still selling like hotcakes, you think they'd be content dominating sales over PS3 and 360. | |

| I've collected a few more info on the Wii 2 which actually might be called "Stream".
If IGN is actually believable to you, then the estimated price, hardware, console design and more has been announced. IGN claims that sources with "knowledge of the project" has revealed to them all this information
In the same article from the great IGN, they also claim that the Wii 2 or "Stream" might be coming sooner than we think with a release of October 2011.

- Additionally, IGN has learned that the system will be based on a revamped version of AMD's R700 GPU architecture, not AMD's Fusion technology as previously believed, which will, as previously reported, out perform the PlayStation 3's NVIDIA 7800GTX-based processor. Like the Xbox 360, the system's CPU will be a custom-built triple-core IBM PowerPC chipset, but the clocking speeds will be faster. The system will support 1080p output with the potential for stereoscopic 3D as well, though it has not been determined whether that will be a staple feature.

It actually makes sense when you think about it. Three reasons probably contributes to the console coming out relatively early: 1. There's not that many games for the Wii to look forward to that isn't already released. I haven't liked this year for the Wii at all, I can really name only three good games for the Wii so far and that's just me looking at Metacritic scores. Almost all of the Wii games that are good have already been released in the past year. As for upcoming 2012 titles, only good ones that immediately comes to mind to me are The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and The Grinder. 2. The technology. The Wii has the most reliable hardware and was the first to feature motion control gaming, but it lags behind the PS3 and 360 by a large margin in power and graphical capability. Both consoles I don't think have met their full capability yet, but I think Nintendo all but tapped it out for the Wii. This ties into my theory that the next console will not lag nearly as far, if at all. 3. Sales are going down. You do have a valid point with the Wii by far outselling the PS3 and 360, but sales have slowed down considerably ever since it's peak in 2008. Right now, it's been constantly outsold by the PS3 and 360 on a weekly basis and according to http://www.vgchartz.com/#Worldwide YTD, this year, PS3 is currently outselling the Wii with the Xbox 360 not far behind. This is more due to market saturation then anything, although the lack of good Wii games this year probably contributes to it. Put all of those three reasons together and you have a likely new console announcement at E3 2011 with the console to follow sometimes in 2012.

The era isn't over yet. The past year Wii sales have been downright embarassing, while the PS3 has just started picking up steam.

Sales are down, but the Wii still outperform their competitors.

That depends on what you mean by how much it'll sell. If by that you mean it'll be a success, then I have no doubts it'll do better then the Nintendo Gamecube/64 and probably the SNES as well, since video games are becoming more and more involved in people's free times (Maybe the NES as well if it keeps selling at a strong pace). The real challenges, however, are two things: 1. Getting it to outsell the Wii. That console is a juggernaut in sales and managed over 80 millions Wii's sold. The quality is frequently debated, but no one can denied it's success. In order for Nintendo to outsell the Wii, they need to ramp up the quality to SNES gen and makes sure that Project Cafe can appeal to both casual and hardcore gamers without losing a significant chunk of the casual audience. 2. Beating it's competition next gen: This one is also another obvious challenge. The main reason why Sony and Microsoft failed to beat out the Wii is because they severely underestimated the sales potential of the Wii and by the time they recognized what they did wrong, it was too late to win the gen. Next time, Nintendo will not have the ability to surprise their foe with new technology that will absorb attention from the casual crowds, Sony and Microsoft will do anything to beat Nintendo next gen in sales and they will ready for anything that steps in their way.
