My PS3 got a YLOD

I'm pretty pissed right now. Sony has even admitted that YLOD is not the customer's fault. So tomorrow I'm going to contact Sony by phone and see what I can do. I really don't want to pay a huge amount to get it fixed...

Close to three years now. I'm not usually an aggressive person when it comes to dealing with people, but I'm not going to take any bullshit from Sony when complaining.

By the way, there are ways to fix a YLOD, provided you're handy with tools. I'm not, so that isn't an option for me.

Your data is safe. YLOD is an external problem, not an internal one.

i had to send my PS2 in a long ass time ago and they repaired it for free althought i heard they stopped doing that later on. i had a very old model and it had the disc read error problem.

Well the PS2's disc read error was basically the PS3's YLOD it happend with ALOT of older models which is why they fixed them for free so hopefully they'll fix that PS3 for free.

My issue is money. I have the time to regain my saves over time. $100 for a $250 system is a good deal for me. They wanted to charge me $150 to get my 60 gig repaired but it wasn't a good investment. It was only a 3 month warrantee and if this YLOD happened again in a year, I'd either be paying another $150 to repair it or $100 for a 160 gig which means I lost out on $150 in the long run.

I'm perfectly fine with a slim too. A later model just means I made a better deal and less defects.
