But it's working at least. My dad payed $600 for the 60gb and it lasted almost 3 years. At least you know Sony will offer you a fairly good deal if yours gets a YLOD.

Which would you recommend? The bad part is i don't know how to remove and put a new one in and nor do I know how to keep those saves backed up for my new hard drive.

If I recall correctly, you can just open up the back without any screws and take out the hard drive. I would recommend the cheap ones because having over 100gb is quite enough, don't you think? Even for someone with as many games as yourself.

I don't know it all really depends. a few of those games have like 3-4gb installs -.- i've been out of gbs for some time now and I always have to install and uninstall games if I even wanna play them...

Well the hard drive change is simple and easy. Just follow this guide which also includes a bit of back up info.

No, remember what that guy said. There have to be exact measurements for the hard drive. Make sure you get the right size or else it won't fit into the PS3.

I meant external drive like to transfer my saves from my old PS3 to my new one. I use it for my music , movies , porn , etc.

Actually, I don't believe you can. I'm pretty sure once a hard drive is read by a PS3, it won't read correctly in any other.

The box came in the mail today. Packaging the PS3 is surprisingly easy and the directions are actually clear.

It was pretty easy despite me running around like a nut finding everything and printing and stuff. I said my goodbyes to my old friend and the PS3 is now packaged correctly (Which I'm kind of proud of, I'm terrible at this sort of shit).

Now to wait an extremely long time for my new PS3 to come in. Also, I'm pretty sure the box came in yesterday as today is Saturday.

Well I'm going to the post office on Monday to drop it off so it will probably get to Sony by Thursday so I'll probably get my new PS3 by that next Wednesday or Thursday.

So this morning Sony received the PS3 as shown by FedEx's tracking system. Their tracking system is awesome. I'm going to give a rough estimate and say my new PS3 will be arriving at my door on Wednesday or Thursday depending on if Sony works fast and ships the new one today. If they ship today, Wednesday. If Monday, then Thursday.

My PS3 just came in the mail. It's about fucking time. Anyway, the box is smaller than the one they gave to me to ship my backwards compatible so it must be a slim.

I'm gonna open it and set it up and probably play it for a little while.

As per my premonitions, they gave me a brand new slim. Now I'm at virtually no risk of a YLOD. PS3 Slims automatically are on standby if they're plugged in. That's pretty cool.

You have no idea how mad I would have been. I would have been screaming at the Sony rep over the phone. They promised me a new PS3 160gb so if they didn't do so, I would have been mad.

If it's going to be well used then I'd say so. I'd personally go lower gb for cheaper but if you really need 500gb go for it.
