| Alright, I didn't want to do this in 3 different topic. lol
Anyway sorry if old, but here are some links I got from a guy at THQ WWE Games forums.
Playstation 4 (Orbis) specs. http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/04/04/sources-detail-the-playstation-4s-processing-specs
Apparently slated for a 2013 release, that's only next year. Pretty close.
I've also heard why this system won't support PS3 playback, word has it Sony is dropping the Cell processor tech next gen. Probably going for a more simple design and take away some third party support from Microsoft. I'm sure Sony would love to make PS4 the lead console next gen, instead of getting all ports from XBOX.
Wii U. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/342815/nintendo-on-wii-u-power-we-dont-focus-on-tech-specs/
Seems Nintendo is sticking to their underdog role as Wii U is reporting to not even be as powerful as 360/PS3, let alone 720/PS4. Then again, it isn't the power of your console, it's all about game quality. Wii outsold 360/PS3 this gen, and I don't think Wii was even an HD console. Should be interesting to see if Nintendo can once again do more with less, and come out on top.
We shall see soon as Wii U is currently looking at a November 18 release date.
XBOX 720 (code name 'Durango') http://crave.cnet.co.uk/gamesgear/xbox-720-release-date-rumours-graphics-and-spec-news-50005998/
Not much to say here, I don't follow XBOX a whole lot. But according to this link, the only rumored release date is 2015 with the mindset that Microsoft intends to milk the XBOX 360 income dry. If Wii U is really coming in November, and if PS4 is really coming next year... Microsoft would take one hell of a gamble to wait till 2015. If Microsoft believes they can allow Sony and Nintendo a two year start and still keep up, they must be planning one hell of a system to be released.
I haven't heard a word on if any of those blocking used games rumors was true.
Should be a interesting generation coming up. Will Sony regain their glory from the PS2 days and go back on top? Have Nintendo got some hidden secrets that will give them the edge again? Will Microsoft blow our minds? Only time will reveal.
Express your mind guys. Hell take a stab at who's looking strongest going into the next gen if you want.

| Seriously though, it's almost depressing to think about Nintendo right now. I went over their NES days, SNES days and even N64 in my Game History class. Nintendo was a breath of fresh air compared to Atari and the other competitors. When NES came out, it changed the entire course of gaming. Nintendo always put out a masterful console with a proper time and effort into them.
NES - Changed the entire course of gaming as we knew it. Completely astounded the audience and brought out good competition from Sega. Had a huge and good library of games.
SNES - Took everything that was great from NES and expanded on it. Made it better. Had an amazing library of games.
N64 - Redefined 64bit and revolutionized gameplay as we knew it with more 3D gaming and the likes. Legendary games are on this console.
GameCube - Took everything that was great about N64 and put it on a better control system and better hardware. And they added third party gaming which was amazing. Great library of games.
I know GC gets a lot of hate, but it really was a great system objectively speaking. I also loved it myself. Even the early stages of Wii were great. We got some really awesome games like Twilight Princess, Radiant Dawn, etc.
But lately Wii has gotten progressively worse and now the Wii U is going to be even worse. Sure, it's an HD console, so what? Nintendo has never rolled that way. Nintendo has always impressed through other means. The jump to HD is all well and good, but the control system sucks and the GC compatibility is gone. It's going to be mostly motion games, which will probably flop compared to PS4 and 720.

| Don't be too sure about that, Zero. I don't think that too many people really care about the old cube anymore. Most people will miss the controller for the console, and the Classic controller and the Pro version are more than satisfactory substitutes. There's also the Wii U tablet on the lineup. I have confidence with that. | |

I'm just calling it based on how Wii has been the last few years compared to its first two or three years. The first three have been better than the latter three. The classic controller is passable, but nothing too special. Obviously Nintendo will do well because they already have a big fan base. But the way Wii U looks, I will not be buying it. Wii motion was a great innovation, but should not be the main feature of the console. At least with the Wii, there were a good deal of games that were more geared for the GameCube controller. As a whole, the GameCube was a better generation than Wii IMO, and since then they have gotten progressively worse.

| Meanwhile, the GC had a lackluster start. I don't think it had a strong finish, though--passable at best. And you're not giving the final half of the Wii's years enough credit. It's getting a strong finish with Zelda, Xenoblade, Last Story, a couple of phenomenal Kirby games, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and several others from '09 on. I think the Wii U will be just fine without the outdated GC. | |

Melee, Metroid Prime, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Master Quest, etc was a lackluster start?

| Half of the games getting launched at line-up were re-releases. Another 49% of it comprised of either sports games or Disney gimmicks. Prime and Melee account for the 0.5% that actually carried some weight, which wasn't enough for the entry half. We didn't see much draw until the latter part of '03 with Soul Calibur II and Tales of Symphonia. Not to mention that the definitive Zelda game of the console wasn't out until '06.
The GC was shoddy all the way through its generation. It needs to be put to rest, already.

| GC was a great console. We actually got third party games and some of the best Nintendo exclusives anyway. The controller was amazing too. | |

Developers seem generally happy with PS4's reveal.
BTW, THANK GOODNESS they didn't call it Orbis. That would have been straight crap.

GFs has usually been more biased towards Microsoft, so this info alone regardless of the circumstances is kinda surprising.
